DIY Beautiful Beaded Curtain

In this project, you’ll learn how to make a beaded curtain for home! This simple yet sparkling beads curtain design has just added splash of colors to your room and it’s really easy-to-do! Required Material:

  • Transparent Acrylic Beads
  • Round Colorful Acrylic Beads
  • Gengon Wood Beads
  • Owl Pendant Cabochon Setting
  • Acrylic Rhinestone Bead (not shown)
  • Metallic Cord
  • Scissors
  • Lace Trim (optional)
  • Double Faced Adhesive Tape (optional)
  • Mark Pen (optional)

Make the Central Owl Pendant Bunch:

1st, cut a 34cm piece of cord;

2nd, attach the owl pendant to 1/3 location of cord by using a Lark’s Head Knot;

3rd, loop the cord by tying an Overhand Knot;

4th, tie another 3 Overhand Knots about 2cm away from the owl pendant. Then, string one largest (24cm) blue acrylic bead;

5th, tie the same Overhand Knots 2cm away the blue pendant and then string one smaller (20cm) bead;

6th, glue the selected rhinestone bead into the owl pendant cabochon setting. Now, you’ve finished the central bunch.

Make the Rest Beads Bunches in Varying Lengths:

1st, cut a 68cm piece of cord;

2nd, string one purple and one black on two ends of cord. Secure by tying two Overhand Knots;

3rd, tie 3 Overhand Knots to secure the large-sized flower bead upon the two small-sized ones;

4th, in the following work, you’ll just need to repeat tying Overhand Knots to stop right beads in proper place. In my beads curtain design, I made five couples of beaded bunches extra and the lengths of needed cords are: 68cm, 76cm, 84cm, 92cm and 100cm.

Hang Them on the Door:

1st, find the center of door and then stick the owl pendant bunch;

2nd, divide both sides into 5 equal parts and then attach the rest bunches by using double faceted adhesive tape; 3rd, cover the other face of tape with a lace trim.

DIY Milk Carton Desk Organizer

Make a Desk Organizer From a Milk Carton:

This post is about an old idea … But, good ideas deserve to be replicated always!
I myself had done some things with a box of milk a few years ago. And I showed you here. a little house I made to camouflage an outlet …
I needed to arrange my pliers, hot glue, stiletto … So I used the boxes and rolls of paper towel to create a very personalized trunk door.
I love recycling! And this is a very versatile option with infinite possibilities.
You can do it with one box or several. The height of the rollers you also choose according to your need.

Required Material:
  • 2 rolls of paper towel,
  • 2 milk cartons,
  • white glue,
  • hot glue,
  • ruler,
  • pencil,
  • thicker paper to wrap the boxes and finish the edges,
  • thick cardboard to make the base,
  • crepe tape,
  • fabric,
  • decorative ribbons.

Cut the boxes with the desired angulation and tape them together.
Also, cut the rollers at any time.

To line the boxes, cut out the thicker paper ( a type of notebook cover), leaving 1.5 cm left over in height. Make all the folds and creases.
Put white glue on the paper and wrap it with fabric. Then line the boxes.

In the inner part of the boxes is only to pass glue and to cover with cut fabric in the measure.
Do this before you wrap it out!

To cover the rollers, cut a piece of fabric 7 cm larger than the roll. Leave about 2 cm on one side and 5 cm on the other. Mark with pen on fabric.
Cut the fabric 2 by 2 cm until marking, as in figure 1.
Pass glue on the rollers, even inside.
Line the rollers and then fold the excess fabric inwards, as in figure 5.
This makes the fabric not wrinkled and the finish looks more beautiful.

Cover with fabric, a very thick piece of cardboard to make the base where the boxes and rollers will be glued.

In the part that divides the boxes, line a piece of paper and glue to finish. If you want, you can make an extra partition, like the one I did!
Glue all the pieces with hot glue to the base.

Then, just decorate with ribbons, lace …

Thank you for your visit!

DIY Flower Vase Out of Plastic Bottle

I would like to show how I made a flower vase out of plastic bottle. This flower vase can be used to keep both artificial and natural flowers. For keeping artificial plants or flowers use pebbles or sand in order to fill the vase and for natural flowers use water. This piece of craft is completely made out of plastic bottles. We use a lid of relatively large container as a base for the flower vase. Use spray paint or painting brush to paint the flower vase.

Required Materials:

1) Plastic bottle

2) Lid of a container

3) Artificial plants or Natural flowers

4) Pebbles

5) Cutting blade

6) Glue gun or any adhesive for plastic bonding

7) Iron box

8) Spray paint or Acrylic paint

Vase:

First of we shall make the vase from the plastic bottles. For that,

1) Take any plastic bottle of desired shape. Decide the required size for your flower vase and select a plastic bottle.

2-3) Cut out the top quarter of the plastic bottle as shown in the image. 4-5) Now using a hot iron box curve the brim of the cut out plastic bottle. Set your iron box to a low temperature and slowly slide the brim of the plastic bottle on the surface of the iron box in a circular motion. 6) Now take a lid of a container. While selecting the lid it should have a size approximately equal to the brim of the bottle so as to get a good shape for the flower vase. 7-8) Apply hot glue at the center of the lid top and fix the bottle head on to the top of the lid as shown in the image.

Painting Vase:

Now we have made a simple flower vase.

1-2) Using a white acrylic spray paint paint the flower vase. Apply a second coat a few minutes after the first coat.

3) Now I have made one more flower vase in the same way. You can try with bottles having different shape and size. 4-5) This time I have planned to give a black acrylic color for the second flower vase. 6-10) Finally, i have made one more flower vase to give a gradient effect on it. For this, the flower vase is lay down and spray painted with black on one side. Thereafter on the other side it’s spray painted white as shown in the image.

Add Plants or Flowers:

Finally, we need to place plants or flowers inside the flower vase. We can keep both artificial and natural plants and flowers in this flower vase.

1-6) For an artificial plant or flower use pebbles or sand in order to fill the vase. I have placed to artificial plants in the black and white flower vases.

7-9) Now, for a natural flower we can fill the vase with water. This could extend the freshness of flower in flower vase. I have placed a bunch of red roses in the flower vase as shown in the image.

Flower Vase:

So we have finished the Flower Vase. It’s a cheap flower vase as it’s a recycled plastic bottle craft. Hope you all enjoyed this tutorial.

How to make a gift basket

I am sharing here an idea for dog lovers. A basket for keeping foods of dogs. Let’s start..

Required Material:

  • Mini dowels
  • Glue (white glue and hot glue)
  • Wooden beads
  • Twine
  • Sisal rope
  • Yarn
  • MDF
  • Door pulls (upcycled preferable)
  • Charm (optional)
  • Permanent marker – black
  • Black acrylic paint

Draw Your Image and Cut Base:

I started by drawing out the bone shape on paper. By folding the paper in half and only drawing out half the bone, you’ll get a more even shape once it’s cut out. I taped the paper pattern to a scrap piece of MDF and my husband cut around it with a jigsaw. He rounded the top edges perimeter with sandpaper to smooth the sharp edges and then painted it white. I marked the holes at 1/2″ increments about ½” in from the edge. My husband drilled out the holes with a drill press so I could insert wooden dowels into the holes. Using a drill press is a real time saver and each hole can be drilled to the same depth for consistency. The dowels act as the ‘ribs’ of the basket to support the weaving.

Glue Dowels:

I dabbed one end of each dowel into a bit of glue before inserting them into the holes.

Let Dry:

Once all the dowels were glued, I let it dry 24 hours. Then it’s time to start weaving!

Coordinate Colors:

Our friend’s new pup is tan and black, so I thought I’d match up the colour of the basket by combining the dollar store twine with some black yarn I had leftover from a knitting project.

Start at One End:

Tie a knot and attach the combined twine and yarn to the middle dowel at one end of the bone.

Start to Weave:

Begin weaving in and out around the entire shape.

Odd or Even: Determine If You Need to Change Direction:

When I got back to where I started, I continued in the same direction. Note that if you have an odd number of dowels, you’ll be able to keep going around and around. However, if you end up with an even amount of dowels, you’ll have to double back and turn around when you reach where you started. Have a look at the picture showing another basket that I made previously to see how to ‘double back’. You can see that towards the top, I looped around both dowels just to stabilize and hold the corner together.

Add a Decorative Element:

Our friend named the new pup Dot, so I added a charm with the letter ‘D’ to the front of the basket. At the exact centre of the basket, I opened up the link of the charm using two needle nose pliers and then squeezed it closed again around the twine and continued weaving.

Finish the Top Edge:

When you’re about an inch from the top of the dowels and you’re back to where you started, bring the end of the twine to the inside of the basket, but don’t cut it off. To finish off the top and create a nice edging, use a thicker piece of rope: fold it in half and loop it around the same dowel.

Add Thicker Rope:

Crisscross the rope around the dowels all the way around the perimeter of the bone until you’re back at the beginning again.

End the Edging:

To end the edging, bring both pieces of rope to the inside of the basket. You’ll use the end of the twine to wrap around the rope and finish it off.

Wrap Twine Around Rope:

Wrap the twine around the rope ends in a figure eight until it’s the length of the inside wall of the basket.

Glue Down to Inside of Basket:

Knot the twine and add some hot glue to secure the end to the back of the rope where it won’t be seen. Cut the end of the twine and the rope, then use hot glue to secure the rope to the inside of the basket so it blends in seamlessly. You can glue down the edge of the rope as well as putting a dollop on the base of the basket to keep the ends from lifting.

Top Dowels With Beads:

To finish off the top of the dowels, I blackened the ends with black marker then glued on some wooden beads.

The holes in the dollar store beads tend to be very inconsistent so I used my thin needle nose pliers to ream out the holes, making sure they would fit onto each dowel before I glued them in place. If you want to be picky about it, you can use a tiny wire brush to clear any debris from the holes before gluing on the beads. I added a dab of hot glue to the underside of a bead and then threaded it onto the dowel, continuing around until all the dowels were capped.

Add Grab Handles to Lift It:

In the planter basket I showed you above, I incorporated rope handles into that one so it could be lifted. Since this basket is much larger and heavier, I decided to repurpose some door pulls instead. They were originally saved from our old cabinets.

Upcycle Some Old Door Pulls:

The yellow oak with gold metal wasn’t going to work with my colour scheme, so I painted the handles to coordinate with the charm (I painted the oak black, then silver leafed and distressed the metal with more black). My husband gave them a quick spray coat of varnish in the garage, which we let dry, before I mounted them onto the basket.

Position Handles and Attach:

Measure to get both handles evenly positioned on each side the basket, ensuring you don’t cover up the charm on the front! You can insert toothpicks where you want the screws placed. I used some washers on the inside of the basket before feeding the screws through the weave of the basket. Use the toothpicks or thin needle nosed pliers to guide the screws through the weave and position the handles on each side. You’ll need a short screwdriver to attach the screws to the handles as the width is pretty narrow in the centre.

Finesse:

As a last step, shave off some of the longer sisal strands with scissors to neaten it up.

Fill With Dog Treats; Don’t Forget the Tick Collar:

The basket is now done and ready to fill with dog treats – and of course a flea and tick collar to protect the pup and keep her safe!
